Your Daily D.O.S.E.
Anger activates adrenalin and cortisol, which create surges of stress hormones in your body, leaving your feeling drained in the aftermath.
Those stress hormones can become addictive, which is why we see some people returning to anger responses again and again, with disastrous results.
Everybody wants to feel good. That's why you're reading this. So let's look at some ways you can activate the
feel-good hormones of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins (D.O.S.E.)
- Activate dopamine by eating healthy protein, getting lots of exercise, meditating regulary, and getting good sleep.
- Activate oxytocin with lots of healthy physical contact, such as hugging, kissing, massage, and sexual intimacy.
- Activate serotonin by getting plenty of sunlight, exercising regularly, and lowering your stress level.
- Activate endorphins with exercise, meditation, sexual intimacy, playing music, and laughter.
- Activate all four feel-good hormones with...guess...laughter! Yes, of all of these activities, laughter is indeed the best medicine.
When these hormones are activated, your immune system will function better, and you'll be less likely to get angry, depressed, or anxious.
Think of it this way...
Laughter is serious business. Without laughter, love, and light-heartedness, life is just too hard.
