Why Look At The Big Picture?
Be more like the hawk than the mouse. The mouse sees the small picture, which triggers fear and anger.
The hawk soars high and takes in the big picture, giving you space and breathing room around your decisions and judgments.
The analogy is this: the mouse is like your small mind, ruled by fight, flight, or freeze options, while the hawk is like your whole brain and higher mind,
ruled by wisdom and compassion.
- The habitual patterns of your mind tend toward repeating the same points of focus, over and over.
- Usually, this means a focus on your daily tasks, problems that need solving, or worry about the behavior of some other person.
- This is all small picture thinking. It's not wrong or bad, it's just incomplete. The mouse is not wrong or bad, it's just very small.
- When you expand your focus to include all that is good, right, and working...all that is bright and beautiful within you and around you, amazing things happen.
- You lower your stress level, and because you have expanded your focus to a bigger picture, your problems are smaller in your expanded view.
- When you further expand your
focus by using your Goodfinding practices of gratitude for the past, appreciation for the present, and optimism for the future, you are becoming a brilliant creator of goodness for yourself and the world.
When you expand your focus to include the magnificent diversity of life, you step into your higher mind and access your compassionate heart.
Think of it this way...
Your ability to focus your attention is the greatest tool you have
for creating the reality you choose.
