Who Is The Victim Of Anger?

The good news is that healthy anger does not have a victim. Unhealthy anger, by contrast has lots of victims, including the angry person.

Healthy anger is directed toward positive, effective action, not toward other people.

Unhealthy anger makes a victim out of you, if you're the angry one, and also the people you're angry at.

  • If you are caught up in unhealthy anger, you are focused on some outside person or situation, making them the cause of your anger (in your own mind.)

  • While you may not realize it, you are giving away your power, freedom, and responisibility when you direct your anger in this way.

  • Healthy anger asks the questions, "What is my responsibility here, and what choices can I make going forward?"

  • And from there, the choice is to find solutions and effective, positive action to improve the situation and create healthy outcomes.

  • Then come the actions, which speak so much louder than words!

The question is not whether you're angry, because we all are from time to time, as part of our human journey. The question is, what are you doing with your anger?

Think of it this way...

Your anger is powerful emotional energy for your use. You have only to decide how you're going to use that powerful energy, which is potentially a precious gift.
